National Standby Repair was established in 1981 by Ken Thompson after many years of working for large generator distributors. The company continues to be a family-owned business. In 2009, Ken’s nephew, Kris Schwind, took over as National Standby’s CEO and Owner.

Since taking over the family business from his uncle, the company has more than tripled their number of technicians under Kris and now features a fully staffed support team.

Kris Schwind, CEO & Owner

Kris Schwind has served as CEO and Owner of National Standby Repair since 2009, a second-generation, family-run business. He combines extensive mechanical expertise with proven business acumen to drive all standby generator sales, installations, service, and maintenance.

Prior to joining the family business, Kris spent six years in the Air Force as Crew Chief for C5 airplanes. Since taking over NSR from his uncle, Ken Thompson, the company has more than tripled their number of technicians and now features a fully staffed support team to ensure reliable, consistent customer service.
